Achievers’ Club: Celebrating Academic Excellence

This week, 148 girls from Years 8-12 gathered for Achievers’ Club lunches to celebrate and acknowledge their outstanding academic efforts in Semester 2, 2021.
Jennifer Oaten, Principal, and Simone Sawiris, Deputy Principal, Teaching & Learning, addressed the girls congratulating them on their achievement.
Academic Captain, Dilara Wijesinghe, also had some words of encouragement for the students. She emphasised the importance of working together as a team and supporting one another throughout their journey at the College.Â
Each member of the Achievers’ Club was then awarded with a certificate by their respective Dean of Students.
As we reflect on the academic successes of the girls, we ask ourselves the important question:
Why have an Achievers Club to acknowledge our top achieving students?
Education is the core of what we do
Every day, we strive to develop knowledge, skills and values through teaching and learning. Being in the Achievers’ Club does not necessarily mean perfect marks, but instead rewards consistent efforts over time. Â Â
Excellence is one of our fundamental Mercy Values
Students who are members of the Achievers’ Club embody excellence, having performed well in several subjects, even though they may not be the best or top-performing student in any particular course.
It motivates students
Publicly acknowledging academic achievement not only motivates students to continue to apply themselves to their full potential but also their peers who may want to follow in their footsteps.
Again, we would like to congratulate all our top achieving students for Semester 2, 2021.
We can’t wait to see what this year holds for our students in all areas of the College.Â
