The theme for our annual Outreach Day was ‘Winter Wonderland’. Students and staff were invited to wear clothing that suited the winter colour scheme of blue, grey, silver, white or black.
This day contributes to Santa Maria’s Winter Appeal, which raises funds and collects donations for three agencies, St Vincent de Paul Society, St Patrick’s Care and The Shopfront. During recess and lunch, College service groups organised a variety of food stalls selling items such as spring rolls, hot chips, sweet and sour straps, pizza, and fair-trade hot chocolate. There was also a coin toss game, eco products, and even a fashion parade. It was great to see everyone dressed in their winter clothing, in the Winter Wonderland spirit, participating and enjoying all the stalls and activities on offer.
Our Winter Appeal launched on Monday 3 May. Each Year group has been asked to bring in specific items the agencies are requesting for their organisation and the people they are helping. Students are encouraged to donate items to the value of $10.00 or a $10.00 monetary donation. All donations are due on Friday 11 June.
Santa Maria College always goes above and beyond for our agencies and we hope this year exceeds our expectations. Our small contribution to these agencies has a significant impact on the clients they assist, who are struggling without the basic resources we enjoy. We look forward to your support this year.
