The annual IGSSA Swimming Carnival is always an exciting time for Santa Maria and this year was no different. We celebrate, in particular, the hard work of the Year 11s.
Friday night was the Year 12s ‘last ever’ IGSSA swimming carnival, a night filled with many highs. It was a great way to pass the baton onto the Year 7s who competed in their first carnival.
“Wow, is all that comes to mind right now. It has only hit me, like many other girls, just now, that we really did it. We now know it is possible. The hard work, and dedication to training, waking up early and staying late, it all worked, we did it … and now we are the school that everyone else wants to beat!
After a stormy week, the weather was kind to us and we had a wonderful afternoon for the IGSSA Cross Country last Friday. The girls had been training hard since Term 1 and were following a different program this year to increase their speed around the course.
This week, our netball and hockey teams participated in the IGSSA Indigenous Round.
We have a number of students and staff heading off on the IGSSA sporting to China and Singapore
On Tuesday the Santa Maria athletics team competed at the IGSSA Athletics Carnival. The girls had set themselves some big goals for the 2017 season and the mood around the team was extremely positive and enthusiastic.
The cross country season has now come to an end, with some excellent performances at the IGSSA event, our final competition for the year.
This week is the IGSSA Indigenous Round. Students were given the opportunity to design a jersey for their school’s hockey goalie.
