Our Year 12 geographers returned from their annual trip to the Central Wheatbelt, visiting farms and the settlements of Cunderdin and Tammin.
Last Saturday night, our Year 12s took to the Hyatt Regency Perth, where they chatted, laughed and danced the night away with their peers and partners. A last-minute venue change (thanks to the Perth Scorchers) didn’t stop students from having a fantastic night.
The Year 12 ACCESS Transition Program is a unique opportunity for our students to participate in workshops, which will assist their transition to life beyond school.

Our Year 11.5 students are well into starting their Year 12 courses this term and are now the official leaders of the College. The girls were excited today when they were officially handed over the Year 12 Alfresco Area during a ceremony, which included the cutting of a ribbon by Principal Jen Oaten and Head Girl Emma Robinson, to officially open the area to the girls.
Congratulations to 2018 graduates Priscilla Rossi and Caitlin Crowley, who have been selected to exhibit at the 2018 Year 12 Perspectives. Mia Algar and Kaylah Sloan have also been selected for the Southern Perspectives exhibit.

Several traditional events were held last Sunday to acknowledge the contributions of our current Year 12 group. It was a fitting celebration of their time in Boarding. Many memories were shared, and the girls enjoyed the significance of the occasion.
Last Friday night, we celebrated the soul, creativity and love shown by the graduating class of 2018 in their artwork, with displays from Year 12 ATAR Visual Art, General Visual Arts and General Design students.
Transition is all about change. Making the change from high school to university or the workplace is a crucial step that our Year 12 students are about to embark on. Figuring out how to make this transition smooth and successful was one of the aims of Life Beyond Santa.

The Year 12 Biology students visited the Zoo on Monday afternoon, to further explore concepts being studied including; homeostasis, evolution and conservation through captive breeding.
Year 12 ATAR art students were working hard with West Australian artist Andy Quilty. The students worked on how to loosen their drawing styles using mixed media.
The outstanding work is currently on display in the Mercy Gallery.
On Sunday 10 June, the Fremantle Sailing Club was filled with Year 12 students and their mothers for the traditional Mother Daughter Breakfast. This event follows on from the Year 11 Father Daughter Dinner. It was a lovely morning for the girls to celebrate the importance of mothers and other special women in the lives of our Year 12 students.
On Tuesday 12 June, Year 12 Santa Maria College Drama students had the opportunity to attend a drama afternoon at Methodist Ladies’ College, hosted by the Independent School’s Drama Association (ISDA).
Last Friday, the Year 12 Outdoor Education class completed a section of the Bibbulmun Track as part of their Bushwalking Expedition. The expedition was modified from an overnight exercise to one day, due to the weather forecast. They were extremely lucky and enjoyed perfect hiking conditions on the Friday.
Today we threw a surprise ‘Halfway Day’ celebration for our Year 12 students, to make the halfway point of their final year of schooling. Following a busy few weeks of exams and work placements, it was lovely for students to stop and come together as a year group

Last Friday night, our Year 12 Visual Art & Design students held their Grad Show ‘Sauvage’. The Mercy Gallery was transformed into a beautiful natural setting with the inclusion of a ‘living wall’ to add to the ambiance of the night.
